Letter to my idol

Ko Ray Mond, I don't know you personally, but your music is always too personal to me. Years back, when I spent most of my time playing dota with my friends at the internet cafe, your music had been on top of our playlists, and it was a norm to sing along with your songs while playing games.

I notice the phrase, “leaving the past behind”, occasionally in your song lyrics, and how you humbly expressed the past mistakes in your interviews. This well resonates with me as I do have a dark past, which I had wished I could go back and fix. But, now, I am dealing with it better. Still, you taught me something nonetheless. “A way to redeem oneself”. We don't care about the aspects of your past which no longer matter, but what we do care about and will definitely remember is all your sacrifices and courage to stand on the right side, not just with words, but with actions. And, I find it extraordinary that your songs do actually reflect the current crisis.

When I listened to this song,”မင်းအတွက်မင်းရှိတယ်” (You got yourself), there is this lyrics,”အမှန်ဆိုတာအတွက်မင်းခန္ဓာစတေးပြီးရှေ့ဆက်”, which left a chill in my spine. This is exactly what you did, and served as proof that how you stayed true to yourself and authentic in your work. This is a real artist to me.

Then here came, “ဘာလိုနေသေးလဲ” and my eyes got watery once I came across this part,”သင်ဘာအဖက်တင်လဲ” which makes me reflect on my own life. For most of my life, I had chased for worldly pleasures, but in the end, what truly matters is the true satisfaction resulted from helping the community and leaving a legacy of inspiration as you did.

I look forward to the day we achieve the victory and on that day, I will loop the playlist of your songs to celebrate it. Until then, leave the remaining duty to us and we will keep moving forward. စိတ်ဖြောင့်ဖြောင့်နဲ့သာချန်ခဲ့ပါ ကိုရေမွန်…..
